In May 2003, Soror Amanda Tomchak began recruiting G.A.P. members in the western region of the United states to form a G.A.P. chapter. She wanted to be able to continue the chapter experience she had as an undergraduate at a G.A.P. level. By June, 6 other sorors had joined her to establish a G.A.P. colony. The sorors included Robin Parent, Michelle Menninger, Heather Truchsel, Sutopa Barua, Emily Kiang, and Mimi Patel.

On October 15, 2003 the women of the G.A.P. West Colony were established.
By January 2004, sorors Mandy Donavan, Sandy Eng and Sruthi
Talluri had joined the colony and one March 9, 2004 the
G.A.P. West Colony became the Xi Eta Chapter!
